Jumper and switch functions explained

Jukebox pulls AC eject to active low which instructs the drive to eject the media.

AC Error indicates that a hardware error was detected within the drive and the drive is unable to load or eject the media due to the hardware error.

AC reset instructs the drive to perform a hard reset and update the jumper settings status. This jumper acts the same as a SCSI bus hard reset and is under the same timing constraints as stated in the SCSI bus specifications.

Active termination should only enabled when the drive is the last device on the SCSI bus

Cart_in_drive indicates whether media is inserted in the drive loader mechanism.

Cart_loaded Indicates that media is loaded onto the drive spindle and the media is spun up

Disable auto spin up. The drive will not spin the media up until it receives a start command from the SCSI initiator.

Disable removable media. This switch disables reporting of removable media during the INQUIRY phase.

Disable Optical Device. This switch changes the device type that is reported to the initiator during the INQUIRY phase. The default device type is 07(optical device). When enabled the device type is changed to 00 (DASD (Direct Access Storage Device) or Hard Drive)

Disable read cache. When this switch is enabled the read cache is disabled (the table below (Disable write cache) shows the valid option for read and write cache)

Disable write cache. When this switch is enabled the write cache is disabled (the table below shows the valid option for read and write cache)

Disable SCSI bus parity. The drive will not check for parity on the SCSI bus

Enable Mac mode This switch disables reporting of UNIT ATTENTION for a power on or a SCSI bus reset. It will also disable reporting of the BUSY STATUS during internal diagnostic on power up. This switch is only to be used for Older SE model Mac’s

External termination power connects the drive’s terminators to pin 26 of the SCSI bus. This ensures that power to the drive’s terminators are powered by the SCSI Bus

GRD ground

Internal termination power selects the drive’s internal power source to supply termination power to the drive’s terminators.

LED pipe can be connected to a jukebox display LED to show drive activity within the jukebox.

MVax mode allows the SCSI initiator to change the EEC bit in the mode select and mode sense 01H pages (only to be used on old MVax e.g. 3100)

PwrDnReq informs the drive that data within the write cache buffer must be transferred to the media immediately

PwrDnAck response to the PwrDnReq that data has been transferred to the media

Stand alone AC Indicates whether the drive is running in stand alone mode or within a jukebox

Verify after write When this function is enabled the drive will perform a ECC read verification of the data that has just been written
