Globalstor Mobilizes DVD-R Dailies Production

Gives Video Professionals Immediate, On-Site Dailies with Chapter Cuts

LAS VEGAS, NV April 7, 2003:

Globalstor Data Corporation, an experienced provider of digital video solutions for the broadcast and video industries, introduced the DVD TransPort ® mobile digital dailies solution today at the NAB (National Association of Broadcasters) convention.  Designed to give video professionals the ability to produce dailies in the field, DVD TransPort can be connected directly to the camera for convenient, instant dailies encoding.  Importing both time code and chapter points with scene and take information of any associated dailies video, DVD TransPort can then copy the video directly to tape or DVD-R using a simple, one-step burn process. No computer experience or authoring experience is needed to create professional quality DVD’s with random access to as many as 99 industry standard menus and chapters.

Unmatched for ease of use, the DVD TransPort utilizes EDL files including Ale, Flex and FTL to provide automated deck control and automatic menu and chapter point creation for easy navigation and fast access to the video content.  Additional flex file support can be added through the incorporation of additional plug-ins.

"The main purpose behind the DVD TransPort is to enable video professionals to create dailies in the field," said Scott Leif, President of Globalstor Data Corp.  "Instead of having to go back to the lab to edit and burn the day’s shoot to tape or DVD-R, the DVD TransPort allows video professionals to produce and burn dailies or other video content, complete with chapter points, while on set or on location.  The result is a tremendous savings both time and processing fees.”

The world’s first portable ruggedized field dailies solution, DVD TransPort is a clear improvement over earlier generation solutions offering real-time, direct to DVD encoding, a source preview/confidence check window and frame accuracy within 1/2 of a second.  Burning dailies to DVD-R gives editors the freedom to scroll with single frame accuracy, to any desired scene and take, for rapid creation of editor rough-cuts.   Using inexpensive, convenient, view-anywhere, DVD-R discs, video professionals have immediate, random access to the day’s shoot, making dailies production faster, easier and more budget-friendly than traditional dailies.  The high quality image and sound files can be reviewed using any standard DVD-enabled desktop computer; notebook or DVD set top box.

Additional applications include:

·        Professional videographers – immediate post event production of tape or DVD copies of weddings, graduations, recitals, etc.;

·        Movie/film industry – instant production of dailies whether on the set or in the field

·        Government and military – provide immediate review capability of satellite launches, war game evaluations, etc. to multiple personnel

NTSC and PAL compatible, the DVD TransPort is configured with a Pentium 4 and 512MB RAM running Windows 2000 Pro.  An IDE-based 80GB hard drive and a high performance 4X DVD-R drive ensure, quick project turnaround as well as the ease-of-use and application flexibility.  The DVD TransPort has a second bay, which can be used to incorporate a removable hard drive or DVD writer.  The DVD TransPort includes a rack-mount LCD monitor and keyboard.

Globalstor Data’s DVD TransPort will be demonstrated at Globalstor’s Booth #SU6015 during NAB April 7th through 10th, 2003, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
