This week at NAB, Globalstor Data Corporation will demonstrate the InfinAttach DV™. A NAS (network-attached storage) MPEG digital video conversion server incorporating the latest in NT-based, real-time MPEG-2 encoding, professional quality Dolby™ digital (AC-3) sound, and embedded NT, InfinAttach DV provides a virtually open architecture from which users can scale nearly unlimited capacity and digital video application flexibility. A breakthrough in economics and seamless integration of industry-standard technology, InfinAttach DV makes it easy for organizations of all sizes to convert video into high quality, Dolby-enhanced, digital MPEG-2 files without sacrificing economy.
InfinAttach DV users can encode video and automatically store compressed and edited MPEG or MPEG-2 files to as many as 60 SCSI devices. The InfinAttach DV enables users to incorporate a broad range of library solutions including the latest in Write-Once DVD-R and ReWritable DVD-RAM jukeboxes for optimum digital recording and playback of up to two hours of video per double-sided disk. For added value, the server’s expansion slot can also be used for Fibre Channel support or gigabit Ethernet card.
InfinAttach DV takes only seconds to connect to the network, without requiring a system administrator. Embedded NT provides unlimited client access, and using Microsoft’s NetMeeting, or any other remote administration utility, provides complete remote management capability. Additional remote management capability for UNIX users is also included. DVB compatible, the InfinAttach DV includes a 100GB hard drive, a Pentium III 900 CPU, 256MB RAM, dual 10/100 Network interface and pre-loaded library management software. Compatible with most NT-compatible software, users can also use off-the-shelf programs such as Open Architecture™.

As a NAS server, InfinAttach DV provides users and devices quicker access to shared files while decreasing the demands of application servers. In the event of a power failure or other catastrophic event, Globalstor’s InfinAttach DV automatically restarts and performs a full system configuration, restoring the system within minutes. The compact server measures only 10.5" x 5.25" x 16.25"(W x H x L) and can be easily mounted to any library.
Pricing and Availability
Available for direct sale through Globalstor Data or to OEMs for development into specific applications, the InfinAttach DV is now shipping with a two-year factory warranty. Prices for the basic InfinAttach DV unit start at $13,350. DVR mastering software available.
