Globalstor’s InfinAttach DV to Assist Pioneer in Demonstrating DVD-R Burning Direct to the FlexLibrary at NAB

(NYSE:PIO), Business Solutions Division, the leader in recordable DVD technology, announced today that Pioneer’s advanced storage system, the DRM-7000 FlexLibrary™, will be demonstrating seamless media encoding an delivery using Globalstor’s revolutionary Network Attached Storage (NAS) digital video server, the InfinAttach DVÔ throughout NAB at Pioneer’s booth #_____.  Combined, the solutions offer broadcasters seamless, automatic video encoding and delivery – in any format, across any network, optimized for exchange between incompatible devices, with virtually unlimited scalable capacity. 

Developed by Globalstor, a leading provider of high-end mass storage solutions, the InfinAttach DV solution integrates industry-standard technology, making it easy for organizations of all sizes and economics to convert their captured video into high quality, Dolby-enhanced, digital MPEG-2 files.  Offering support to as many as 60 SCSI devices, the InfinAttach also includes an additional expansion slot, which can be used as Fibre Channel support or gigabit Ethernet card for even greater value.  A breakthrough in economics, the InfinAttach not only provides users with a low-cost turnkey network solution, it also puts an end to per-slot charges saving organizations thousands of dollars per years.

The DRM-7000 FlexLibrary is the latest and most advanced storage system offered by Pioneer. An innovative modular approach offers the flexibility to accommodate any drive-to-disc ratio from a maximum of 720 discs with two drives to a maximum of 370 discs with 16 drives.  Hot swappable for on-the-fly drive replacement, Pioneer offers a broad range of drive options including the company’s newest, the DVR-A04, which supports multiple recording formats

including DVD-R, DVD-RW, CD-R and CD-RW as well as CD buffer underrun protection support for high speed CD-RW media.  A flip mechanism provides immediate access to double-sided discs, and a unique built-in memory feature enables the 20-disc Hypermagazine or a 50-disc magazine to perform off-line archiving.

DVB compatible, the InfinAttach DV includes a 100GB hard drive, a Pentium III 900 or faster CPU, 256MB RAM, dual 10/100 Network interface and pre-loaded library management software.  Compatible with most NT-compatible software, users can also use off-the-shelf programs such as Open ArchitectureÒ.

Working together, the InfinAttach DV can provide FlexLibrary users with the ability to convert, store and recall, virtually unlimited broadcast-quality or streaming video files automatically.  In addition to converting raw content into Dolby-enhanced, digital MPEG-2 files, as a NAS devise the InfinAttach DV can also provide quicker access to shared files while decreasing the demands of application servers.  InfinAttach DV takes only seconds to connect to the network, without requiring a system administrator.  Embedded NT provides unlimited client access, and using Microsoft’s NetMeeting, or any other remote administration utility, provides complete remote management capability.  Additional remote management capability for UNIX users is also included.

The InfinAttach DV offers support for Mac, Novell, NT and UNIX clients, In the event of a power failure or other catastrophic event, Globalstor’s InfinAttach DV automatically restarts and performs a full system configuration, restoring the system within minutes.   The compact Server measures only 10.5" x 5.25" x 16.25"(W x H x L) and can be easily mounted to any library.

Pricing and Availability

Available for direct sale through Globalstor Data or to OEMs for development into specific applications, the InfinAttach DV will begin shipping the end of April and will include a two-year factory warranty.  List price for the basic InfinAttach DV unit start at $11,572.  DVR mastering software is available.

Pioneer’s DVR-A04 is available now with a manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of $499.  The DRM-7000 FlexLibrary is also shipping, with MSRPs starting at $_____.
