Globalstor’s SCSI-Based ExtremeStor-DI PRO Certified for IRIDAS’ SpeedGrade DI

The New Power Couple for Postproduction Workflows

CHATSWORTH, CA September 9, 2005:

Globalstor Data Corporation and IRIDAS announced today that the new ExtremeStor-DI PRO has been certified for use with IRIDAS’ SpeedGrade DI, color correction and film finishing application.   As a combined solution, ExtremeStor-DI PRO and SpeedGrade DI provide postproduction professionals with one of the hardest working, streamlined, DI workflow environments in the industry.

A complete video capture and playback Digital Intermediate solution, SCSI-based ExtremeStor-DI PRO supports uncompressed SDTV and HDTV video in 10 bit and 8 bit RGB 4:4:4, 10 bit and 8 bit YUV 4:2:2, and 8 bit RGB 4:4:4:4 data streams.  ExtremeStor-DI PRO integrates the latest NVIDIA PCI Express Professional Graphics card with optional HDSDI Outputs.

SpeedGrade DI offers a powerful set of non-destructive color grading and film finishing tools including unlimited grading layers, versioning, EDL conform, animated masks, pan-and-scan, and more. Full integration with SpeedGrade OnSet and IRIDAS’ FrameCycler products provides the industry’s first complete color pipeline.

“We are delighted to be able to certify ExtremeStor-DI PRO for SpeedGrade DI,” said Michael Gallo, IRIDAS VP of product development.  “Together, these solutions offer DI artists, colorists and DPs an exceptional package, providing storage and horsepower that really let SpeedGrade DI fly.”

“The beauty of IRIDAS’ software-based approach is that their applications just keep getting more powerful as the hardware gets faster,” said Scott Leif, President of Globalstor Data. “The integration of SpeedGrade DI with our new ExtremeStor-DI PRO provides the proof: this kind of power just wasn’t available not too long ago – not at any price.”

ExtremeStor-DI PRO uses dual Intel Xeon processors to provide up to 900MB/sec. sustained performance using 16 Ultra320 drives running RAID 0. It offers scaleable capacities up to 4.8TB with 300 GB drives. For extremely demanding environments, AMD Dual Core Opteron configurations are also available.  The standard version features Dual Gigabit Ethernet, 3 GB DDR2 RAM, Windows XP, Optional Fire Wire 800 and Optional Fibre Channel interfaces.
