GLOBALSTOR’S EXTREMESTOR-DI TO POWER BLUEFISH444 DEMOS AT IBC 2009

Latest version of workstation offers record-breaking 10 PCI-E slots

Amsterdam, The Netherlands, 9 September, 2009:

Globalstor® Data Corporation, a premier OEM integrator of high-performance RAID, SAN and storage/video servers, is pleased to announce that its ExtremeStor-DI video storage and playback system will be powering two major demonstrations being conducted by video processing card maker Bluefish444 at IBC 2009 (Bluefish444 IBC Stand 7.J09).

The demos, featuring content generated by ASSIMILATE’s SCRATCH® Data Process Solution and post-production software, will showcase the new Epoch 2K Horizon video processing card from Bluefish444, as well as an integrated, uncompressed RGB (4:4:4) I/O workflow for a Digital Intermediate/Finishing workflow. For both demos, Bluefish444 will deploy the latest generation of Globalstor’s 10-drive ExtremeStor-DI tower for data capture, processing and real-time playback of high-resolution 2K video content processed by the Epock 2K Horizon multichannel 2K PCIE video card.

Thanks to the ExtremeStor-DI’s ability to manage 2K and other extremely large, uncompressed file sizes, IBC attendees will witness firsthand the extraordinary processing power of the BlueFish444 Epoch 2K Horizon, complimented by the superb color grading and DI content toolset of the SCRATCH software.

”The beauty of the ExtremeStor-DI system is its ability to handle 2K and other high-resolution content so seamlessly, in real time, so it was the ideal hardware component for these demonstrations,” says Craige Mott, managing director, Bluefish444. “Combined with ASSIMILATE’s SCRATCH software, it will truly bring to life the processing capabilities of the Epoch 2K Horizon for IBC audiences, in as close to a ‘real-world’ type of situation as possible.”

The latest generation of Globalstor’s ExtremeStor-DI video storage and playback workstation, which makes its debut at IBC 2009, offers native, uncompressed 4K, stereoscopic 2K and R3D (RED 3D) resolution playback in a single solution, either in a rack-mount or tower configuration, along with 10 PCI Express (PCI-E) card slots.

“We are thrilled to partner with Bluefish444 and ASSIMILATE on these two incredible demonstrations at IBC,” says Scott Leif, president of Globalstor Data Corporation. “There is truly no better way to demonstrate the video processing technology of Bluefish444’s Epoch card or the muscle of the Globalstor hardware, than a demonstration showcasing how these systems would work in an actual DI workflow situation.”

With ExtremeStor-DI base models starting at just under 2.5TBs and scalability of up to 24TBs in a single 4 or 5RU, the cost per megabyte is at an all time low, making the ExtremeStor series of video storage desktop, tower and rackmount servers the most attractive ROI for the digital intermediate and digital cinema marketplace today.
