Globalstor Launches NAS/iSCSI Server Incorporating 24 Hot Swappable SATA Drives at SWC

Up to 6TB of Scaleable Networked Storage for Under $14,000

LONG BEACH, CA June 28, 2004:

Globalstor Data debuted the ExtremeStor-iNAS, NAS/iSCSI server today during the annual Storage World Conference (SWC). Incorporating as many as 24, 250GB hot-swappable SATA (Serial Advanced Technology Attachment) hard drives, ExtremeStor-iNAS provides IT managers with up to 6TB of scaleable storage and low-cost, high-performance iSCSI file access in a single, consolidated centralized storage management solution. Supporting RAID levels 0, 1, 5 and 0+1, ExtremeStor-iNAS is ideal for today’s data-intensive enterprises offering storage pools for both workgroup and departmental configurations.

ExtremeStor-iNAS integrates Dual Intel® Xeon™ 2.4Ghz processors for maximized computing power over a dual gigabit network interface, Linux minimized OS on a solid state flash disk for ultimate reliability, and comes standard with Ultra 320 SCSI, or the option to add Fibre Channel HBA for even greater scalability. Featuring three hot-swappable power supplies and three hot-swappable fans, the ExtremeStor-iNAS is well-equipped to safe guard small and medium businesses against downtime and critical data loss while. A vast improvement over IDE disk drive-based solutions, SATA offers a faster, more efficient transfer rate of 150 Mbyte/s and connects the drive directly to the host unlike the slower shared connection of standard IDE drives.

“ExtremeStor-iNAS easily integrates with existing networks and enables consolidation of multiple file servers to provide the most efficient possible use of enterprise storage resources," said Scott Leif, President of Globalstor Data. "Redundant hot-plug support, backplane compatibility, speed, reliability and cost efficiency are the essence of this easily managed and scalable storage appliance.”

ExtremeStor-iNAS also includes:

  • Linux Minimized OS
  • Web interface control, 128bit SSL, Mini SSL web server
